Nasarawa State: Expert advocates switch over to digital economy

The Director-General, Bureau For Information Communication Technology (BICT), Shehu Ibrahim has urged Stakeholders in Nasarawa state to switch over to digital economy to meet up with the 21st century ICT development.

Ibrahim stated this in Lafia, the state’s capital during a press conference as part of activities lined up to mark the 2021 Digital Nigeria Day which is celebrated on the 24th of October every year.

The press conference was organized by the Ministry for Information, Culture, and Tourism in collaboration with the Bureau for Information Communication Technology (BICT).

According to him, “Digital Nigeria Day will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to identify and promote success stories and leading lights in the expansion of Nigeria’s Digital Economy
“ICT has been one of the key areas that this administration has focused on, through regulating, training, restructuring, reequipping, developing, and keying into the digital economy and service delivery.

“With the growing dependence on ICT by governments across the globe, Nasarawa state was set to strategically position itself in the nation’s technological space,”  the Director-General noted
Ibrahim further thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for being able to change the economy of the state through infrastructural development, industrialization and for always supporting the growth of Information Communication Technology in the state.

He said, “I would like to applaud the tireless commitment of the Nasarawa state governor for his confidence, total support, and faith in ICT and BICT, and for setting his sights on changing the economy through digitization of processes in the state.

The theme for the 2021 Digital Nigeria Day, “Digital Transformation: A path to sustainable Digital Economy” is in line with the vision of the Nasarawa state government.
