N80 Billion Fraud: Nigeria’s Anti-Graft agency arrests Accountant General, Ahmed Idris

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris over an N80 billion fraud

In a statement issued on Monday evening, May 16, 2022, the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed that this was in connection with the diversion of funds laundered through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja.

“The Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF  raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.”

The Accountant General was arrested after failing to honour invitations by the EFCC to respond to issues connected to the fraudulent acts.
