‘My beloved lionheart’: Liz Hurley pays tribute to Shane Warne

Liz Hurley has broken her silence following the unexpected death of her former fiancé Shane Warne.

The Australian cricketer died on Friday, 4 March after a suspected heart attack. He was 52 years old.

The once glamorous couple embarked on a whirlwind romance in 2010, announcing their engagement after mere months of dating.

They called off their high-profile romance in 2013.

Taking to Instagram, the model and actress shared a montage of pictures of herself and Shane Warne taken throughout their three year long romance.

In the pics, the couple could be seen kissing, embracing and even showing off the actress’s engagement ring.

She shared: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart”.

Three months after splitting from her husband Arun Nayur in 2011, Liz and Shane went public with their engagement. The couple announced the news on their Twitter accounts.

What followed was a media frenzy documenting the couple’s every move.

Shane Warne told the Australian news site news.com.au there was no “no single, clear reason” why their relationship ended, despite his own admission that he felt “jumpy” about her friendship with ex boyfriend Hugh Grant.

It wasn’t just Liz who remembered her relationship with Shane Warne. Son Damian Hurley also paid tribute to his mom’s former partner on his own Instagram account.

The model shared pics of himself and the athlete alongside their blended family including Shane’s own children; son Jackson and daughters Brook and Summer.

He captioned the images: “I’m still trying to wrap my head around this… SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I’ve ever known. My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all SW’s family”.

In 2020, Damian lost his biological father Steve Bing to suicide in June 2020. The American businessman ended his life after jumping off the 27th floor of a high rise LA apartment building.

According to reports, the 55-year-old suffered from depression and had lost much of his fortune.

Sadly, Damian and his father Steven never met in person.
