‘Muvhango’ actress shares advice on divorce amidst Susan’s storyline

Well-known Muvhango actress- Maumela Mahuwa- who plays Susan is advicing women who are going through divorce to not stay in bad marriages.

Her character and Azwindini are going through a divorce in the SABC2 soapie.

MAUMELA MAHUWA ON DIVORCE  

Muvhango actress Maumela Mahuwa – who plays the character of Susan in the Tshivenda soapie has advised women who are in the process of getting divorced to get legal assistance.

Mahuwa opened up about divorce after her character’s messy divorce storyline in the soapie.

Fan-favourite character – Susan Mukwevho – who has been married to Chief Azwindini Mukwevho for two decades is going through a divorce.

The actress revealed in an interview with Daily Sun:

“The first thing women should do, even before marriage is realise who they are.”

“You cannot be someone’s life and forget that you’re an individual.”

She says women should know that they have the power to think for themselves and that they should get a lawyer.

“Please get a lawyer if you are divorcing. Know your rights.”

“Do everything that needs to be done and don’t kill yourself.”

Mahuwa adds that her character- Susan’s problems were caused by insisting to stay in a toxic marriage that no longer serves her.

“It’s an African thing mom’s do, and it’s not good.”

“You don’t die for putting yourself first.”

Susan got a wake-up call when she finally realised that Azwindini did not respect her.
