What should have been a peaceful Valentine’s Day evening at a village pub turned into a horrific crime scene when 43-year-old Lisa Smith was fatally shot outside the Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent.
Witnesses who had been enjoying dinner inside were left in shock as gunshots rang out, followed by screams of terror.
A Suspect on the Run
Lisa’s partner, identified locally as Edvard Smith, is believed to be the main suspect.
After the shooting, he reportedly drove ten miles to Dartford Bridge and may have jumped into the Thames.
Authorities have yet to locate him, and investigations are ongoing.
Family and Community in Mourning
Lisa, a mother of two who had been living in Slough, Berkshire, was remembered by heartbroken relatives who visited the pub to pay their respects.
A floral memorial was set up near the scene, where family members struggled to comprehend the tragedy.
One relative described Lisa as “a beautiful lady and a wonderful mother,” adding that the shocking event had left them searching for answers.
Murder-Suicide Theory Under Investigation
Police are treating the case as a possible murder-suicide, with CCTV footage revealing a terrifying sequence of events.
The video, obtained by MailOnline, captures three gunshots followed by a fourth before a vehicle is seen speeding away from the scene.
Moments later, a woman’s chilling scream is heard: “He’s killed her.”
Authorities Respond to the Incident
Detective Chief Inspector David Higham confirmed that officers received reports of a man seen on the wrong side of the Dartford Bridge barrier.
“We are not ruling out the possibility that he may have entered the water,” he stated.
He also reassured the public that police are only searching for one suspect and do not believe there is any ongoing threat.
Specialist officers are working closely with the families of both Lisa and Edvard to provide support during this devastating time.
Eyewitnesses Recall the Chaos
Michelle Thomas, the landlady of the pub, revealed that around 50 people were present at the time of the incident, including 30 guests having dinner and 20 others in the bar.
An off-duty firearms officer intervened, attempting to manage the chaos that unfolded.
Although Lisa had visited the pub before, she was not considered a regular.
A Community in Shock
Residents of the quiet village have been left reeling from the tragic event.
One local, Eve Hussey, 62, shared her disbelief: “We were horrified when we heard the news.
We pass by here all the time, and this is such a peaceful village.”
Reverend Tim Edwards of St Katharine’s Church echoed the community’s sentiment, emphasizing the overwhelming sense of shock.
Witness Accounts and Police Action
Nearby shop employee Thivi Selva recalled hearing loud bangs and crying before police arrived and blocked off the road.
At first, he mistook the sounds for fireworks.
Meanwhile, Knockholt Parish councillor Steve Maines recounted how his Valentine’s Day meal was abruptly interrupted by the commotion outside.
Investigation Continues
Authorities removed a blue Seat car from the pub’s parking lot over the weekend as part of their ongoing investigation.
The tragic loss of Lisa Smith has left her family, friends, and the local community searching for answers while police work to piece together the events leading up to that fateful night.
