Mikel Arteta is not ready to give up on Arsenal’s Premier League title dreams, emphasizing that he will fight until it’s mathematically impossible to win.
Despite challenges, Arteta remains proud of how far his team has come this season, considering the number of injuries and red cards they’ve faced.
Arsenal’s Unexpected Position
After a tough 1-0 loss to West Ham, Arsenal’s hopes of securing the title were dealt a significant blow.
With Liverpool’s victory over Manchester City, the Gunners now find themselves trailing by 11 points, having played one game fewer than their rivals.
However, Arteta still sees the positive in the situation.
“If you told me at the start of the season that we’d be facing so many challenges—five matches with red cards, losing key players, and still staying above midtable—I’d say we should be happy with that,” Arteta shared.
“But we’re not in midtable, and we’re not out of the Champions League. We’re showing resilience and ambition, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.”
No Giving Up
Arteta’s commitment to the cause is clear: “I’m not going to stop. Not over my dead body,” he said.
He insists that the focus is to continue giving everything they have, constantly improving and setting higher standards regardless of the hurdles they face.
Odegaard’s Performance and Recovery
A drop in Martin Ødegaard’s recent performance has raised questions, especially regarding his ankle injury earlier in the season.
Arteta remains uncertain about the impact, but he praised Ødegaard’s attitude and resilience.
“He came back strong, and even with 10 men on the pitch, he took responsibility.
His drive is exactly what we need,” Arteta explained.
“He’s trying more than anyone to make things happen for the team.”
Injury Updates: Key Players on the Mend
With Arsenal hoping for a comeback, Arteta gave an update on injured players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
He also reassured fans about Ethan Nwaneri’s situation after he appeared to struggle during the West Ham game.
“Ethan was just cramping; his load has been different recently, but he’s fine,” Arteta clarified.
“As for Bukayo and Gabi, they’re recovering well, though they still have some time before returning.”
Despite the setbacks, Arteta’s resolve to continue pushing for the title remains strong, and the Gunners’ fight isn’t over yet.
