Kuma, a pug residing in New York, has become an unexpected social media sensation, boasting around 100,000 Instagram and 77,000 TikTok followers.
His owner, Sid Henderson, a frequent traveler due to his job in warehouse automation, has been taking Kuma on flights since he was just a puppy.
250 Flights and Beyond: Kuma’s Travels:
Mostly flying with Delta Air Lines from New York airports, Kuma has explored various parts of the U.S., ventured to Montreal, and even journeyed as far as Seoul in South Korea.
He’s made trips to Europe, enjoying cities like Paris and Porto and basking in the beaches of Lisbon. Sid manages to make Kuma’s in-flight experience smooth by keeping him discreet and tucked under his legs for the duration of the flight.
Kuma’s Travel Habits:
Despite the novelty of flying as a pug, Kuma remains relaxed throughout the flights, possibly due to growing up in a bustling city.
Sid limits flight durations to around six or seven hours to ensure Kuma stays comfortable, especially if any delays occur. Prior to flying, Sid recommends ample time at the airport for pet-related tasks and allowing Kuma to release energy before boarding.
Tips for Traveling with Pets:
Airport security checks Kuma before he heads to designated “pet relief” areas for breaks. Sid suggests using outdoor smoking areas if designated pet areas are unavailable.
Despite the attention Kuma receives, Sid notes that the pug is more interested in discovering new scents than the locations themselves.
