Maya Jama is stepping into a whole new spotlight, with reports revealing she has landed a sizzling role in the upcoming second season of Guy Ritchie’s gangster drama, The Gentlemen.
The 30-year-old Love Island host is said to have joined the cast quietly, with the official announcement expected soon.
A Glamorous New Character in a Gritty World
According to insiders, Maya will play the glamorous wife of a shady character connected to Theo James’ lead role as Eddie Horniman.
Filming is already underway at the beautiful Badminton House estate in Gloucestershire, which doubles as the fictional Halstead Manor in the series.
A source close to the production told The Sun, “Maya is absolutely thrilled to be part of such a huge show, especially with Guy Ritchie leading the project.
The Gentlemen was one of the biggest hits of 2024, known for its glossy and sexy vibe — it’s a perfect fit for her.”
Hints and Teasers Leading Up to the Role
Maya has been dropping hints about her acting journey earlier this year.
She shared a Netflix script on social media and posted a cryptic snap with The Gentlemen star Kaya Scodelario, who plays mob boss Susie Glass.
She even teased fans with a photo holding a Netflix-branded cup, sparking speculation about secret meetings with the streaming giant.
Back in January, Maya revealed she had been auditioning for a “dream role” and was eager to show a different side of herself.
I would want to play a villain or something totally unlike me, just to prove I can act,” she said. “I want people to see two different sides of me.”
The Gentlemen’s Rise to Fame and Star-Studded Cast
The Gentlemen launched on Netflix last year and quickly became a massive hit.
The show follows Eddie Horniman, a former Army officer who inherits his family’s estate, only to find himself entangled in a sprawling cannabis empire.
The first season starred big names like Theo James, Vinnie Jones, and Ray Winstone, and it racked up 44 million views in just four weeks — one of Netflix’s standout successes.
Balancing Love Island and Acting Ambitions
While Maya dives into this exciting new acting role, she’s also preparing to return as the host of Love Island for the summer series set to film in Majorca.
Since taking over the hosting gig in 2023, Maya has continued to shine, building her career from ITV’s Don’t Hate the Playaz to high-profile fashion collaborations with Pretty Little Thing, Dolce & Gabbana, and even landing on the cover of Vogue.
Reflecting on Milestones and Future Dreams
Turning 30 recently, Maya has been reflecting on her achievements and setting fresh goals.
“I’ve been so fortunate to have ticked off all my childhood dreams before 30,” she shared.
The former radio host, who was also recently named a new judge on The Masked Singer, has plans beyond the screen.
She openly talks about wanting to retire one day and start a family — but only with the right person.
