Rasmus Hojlund has shared a candid and self-reflective take on his challenging season with Manchester United, admitting his performance has not met expectations.
Tough Times in Front of Goal
The Danish striker has found the back of the net just once in the past four months, leaving him with only eight goals in all competitions for the 2024-25 season.
Even more concerning is his low shot count in the Premier League—only 21 attempts—making him one of the least prolific players in the league.
For context, 133 players have had as many or more shots on goal than Hojlund.
Acknowledging the Pressure and Seeking Improvement
Hojlund spoke openly about the pressure that comes with playing for a club like Manchester United.
In an interview with Premier League Productions, he emphasized that he fully understood the weight of the club’s legacy and wouldn’t have joined if he wasn’t prepared for it.
“I wouldn’t have taken the number nine shirt in the summer if I didn’t think I could handle the pressure,” he said.
However, he also admitted that the current season has been a tough one for him.
“I’ve struggled at times,” Hojlund confessed.
“But it’s all about finding your way.
You need to keep doing the things that got you here, while also focusing on improving the areas where you know you can do better.
That’s what I’m always working on.”
Praise for Ruben Amorim’s Passion
Hojlund also highlighted the passionate approach of his manager, Ruben Amorim.
According to the striker, Amorim is driven by a strong desire to elevate every player in the squad.
“He is very passionate about improving everyone,” Hojlund said.
“You can see that he truly cares about getting better and taking this club back to where it belongs.
I think that’s his greatest quality—he just wants to be the best version of himself as a manager.”
