Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile has spoken out about the possibility of becoming the Brazilians’ all-time leading scorer!

Since joining the DStv Premiership winners at the start of last season, the Namibian marksman has been on fire.

Peter Shalulile has already scored 43 goals in 73 games for Mamelodi Sundowns and is on track to exceed Daniel Mudau’s 172 goal record at the Brazilians if he maintains his current form.

According to Shalulile however, he’s simply not interested in breaking records but rather focusing on continuously improving and helping his side.

Mamelodi Sundowns star not focused on ‘records’

“It is about making sure that the team wins every trophy and with that comes blessings and I believe that it is possible.

“Anything that has been set by a human being is possible to be reached but if you put that first you will lose your mind and you will get frustrated.

“For now I am just making sure that Mamelodi Sundowns wins and we are in a good place. I don’t feel pressured. I just do the same thing that I do.

“I go to work and try to do my best and I am not chasing records, I am focused on my journey and where I am heading to.

“As a striker, you need to score to get confidence and in those days where I never score for Mamelodi Sundowns and weeks where I was not scoring, I just kept the faith, we all go through such a journey.

“Even the best in Europe go through that where they do not score, but they do not give up. The breakthrough eventually comes,”

Peter Shalulile already has 21 goals in all competitions so far this season. He has also picked up six assists for Mamelodi years this season and looks set to bag the league’s top goal scorer award.
