Little beauty queen sets out to conquer Africa

A young Limpopo girl, Ndaloenhle Sibanyoni, 7, has finally realised her modelling dream of representing her country on the world stage.

Ndaloenhle, from Steelpoort, is set to fly the South African flag high at the Little Mr and Miss Africa to be held in Uganda on April 15.

Ndaloehle, a grade 2 pupil from Steelpoort Academy, has already started preparing for the contest by learning possible questions the judges might ask her, among other things.

“I am attending Sekhukhune Pageant and modelling Academy to help me with preparations of the big beauty contest ahead of me. I have also learnt to love myself and respect others. I have confidence that I will win the contest title,” she told Sowetan.

Her mother, Poppy, said her daughter’s talent was spotted by her school principal Luaan Heyl when she was four years old.

“She enjoyed parading for us and other children imitating Miss SA and Miss Universe. This grew into her and would enter competitions. She has won many crowns,  among others Tingling Miss Valentine, Tingling Miss Spring, BP Top Model, Miss Spring Tiny Tots Burgersfort, Junior Miss United Limpopo, Face of Atok second Princess, Juniour Miss Royal Bopedi,” said her mother.

“I want her to become the best model. I believe she is going to bring the crown home,” added the mother.

The director for Little Mr and Miss Africa in SA, Tidimalo Thlabi, said Ndaloenhle was selected from hundreds of girls who applied and were interviewed.

“The competition is about cultural exchange and exposure for our children coming together. She was selected among hundreds of applications received. A series of interviews were done and she was selected to represent her own country in a contest that promotes cultural diversity,” said Thlabi.
