Les Dennis Recalls Funny Age Gap Moment with Amanda Holden
An Age Gap Marriage
Les Dennis, the Strictly star, openly discussed a humorous incident related to the significant age gap between him and his former wife, Amanda Holden.
Despite a 17-year age difference, they were married from 1995 to 2003, with Les in his 40s and Amanda in her 20s during their union.
The Grand National Bet
During a recent appearance on Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre podcast, Les recounted an amusing episode that highlighted their age difference.
He joked that he “should have known” based on this particular incident.
It unfolded in their Highgate home on Grand National day when a plumber was fixing their washing machine.
Amanda rushed in and exclaimed that they needed to place a bet on the Grand National.
Les was taken aback and questioned her.
He then handed over a £10 note, suggesting a bet. Amanda, however, insisted they should wager more.
Les proposed £20, and it was at this point that the plumber chimed in with a humorous remark, saying, “Kids eh?” Les reflected on this moment, jesting that it might have been a hint.
The Ups and Downs of Their Marriage
Les and Amanda tied the knot in June 1995, but their marriage faced challenges five years later when Amanda had an affair with Neil Morrissey.
Although they managed to reconcile briefly, their romance eventually ended in late 2002, leading to their divorce in 2003.
Amanda’s Current Happily Married Life
Presently, Amanda Holden, 52, is happily married to Chris Hughes, and they have two daughters together, Alexa, 17, and Hollie, 11.
