Leicester draw 0-0 against Palace

Leicester City’s terrible start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday with a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace, though the point lifts them off the bottom of the table for the time being.

James Maddison had the best two chances at the King Power Stadium, but both times he failed to hit the target, while it took Palace more than an hour to get a shot on target in a game between two sides lacking confidence.

It was Leicester’s second clean sheet in ten league games this season, greeted by boos from sections of the home crowd at the final whistle, and Palace’s second goalless draw in a row away from home, where they had not won since April.

The first half produced no clear-cut chances, with Leicester forward Patson Daka merely stinging the palms of visiting goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and Marc Guehi heading over from a free kick at the opposite end.

In the second half, Maddison struck wide twice, while Palace had their first attempt on goal in the 64th minute, when home goalkeeper Danny Ward stopped wonderfully low to his right to deny Odsonne Edouard.

Leicester will play Leeds United on Thursday, while Palace will host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Selhurst Park on Tuesday.
