LASG PRESENTS DRAFT FINAL REPORT ON IJEGUN-EGBA ACTION AREA  

The Lagos State Government has presented the draft final report on Ijegun-Egba action area Plan, making it the sixth successive report of development plans presented to stakeholders in the last couple of months.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, in his remarks at the presentation of the report to stakeholders at Oriade Local Council Secretariat, Satellite, said the plan aimed to address infrastructural needs and development pressures in Ijegun-Egba to facilitate the transformation of the area. He disclosed that the Ijegun-Egba Action Area Plan is part of the nine approved by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to stimulate the orderly development of the hinterlands.

Salako, who spoke through the Director of Development Matters, Tpl. Saheed Animashaun, explained that the Ijegun-Egba Action Area Plan, covering a period of 10 years (2021-2031), is part of Physical Development plans designed as viable instruments guiding physical growth and direction of development across the State.

“Furthermore, the plan is envisioned to provide solutions to the Physical Planning Problems of Ijegun-Egba and also to address Perennial Environmental Flooding and Drainage Challenges amongst others in the area”, he said. He reiterated that the plan would unlock the developmental and tourism potentials of the area as well as serve as a catalyst for economic prosperity and enhanced aesthetics of Ijegun-Egba.  Tpl. Waheed Kadiri of Kadiri Associates Limited, the Project Consultant, urged the people of Ijegun-Egba to cooperate with them for the timely delivery of the project.

The Olu Ibasa Ijegun-Egba Land, Oba Afeez Shittu, represented by the Jagunmolu of Ibasa Ijegun-Egba, Chief Tajudeen Akinyemi, appreciated the Lagos State Government for bringing development to Ijegun-Egba and pledged the support of the community for the successful completion of the project.  The Action Area Plan for Ijegun-Egba, a rapidly developing settlement within Oriade Local Council Development Area, covers a land area of 1342.15 hectares.
