…By Enitan Thompson for TDPel Media. The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, along with his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and other government officials, will attend a one-day seminar organized by the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The seminar aims to provide guidance and support to intending pilgrims embarking on the 2023 Holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Olayiwola Saheed Onipede, the Secretary of the Board, the seminar is scheduled for Sunday, May 28, and will be held at the De-Blue Roof, Lagos Television (LTV) Agidingbi, Ikeja, starting at 9 am.
The event serves as an opportunity for the Governor to interact directly with the intending pilgrims and offer prayers for their safety, guidance, and a successful spiritual journey.
Renowned Islamic scholar and preacher, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, Chief Missioner of Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria (AUD) Kano Branch, will deliver a lecture on the topic, ‘Procedures of Performing Acceptable and Rewarding Hajj’.
Representatives from various Federal Government agencies, including Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Customs Service, and National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), will also provide insights into conduct and protocols in the foreign land.
The Secretary further announced the expected attendance of the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nollah, Chief Imams from the five divisions of the State, and several Royal Majesties, who will serve as spiritual and royal figures during the event.
All intending pilgrims have been encouraged to attend the seminar dressed in Ankara Aso Ebi, a traditional attire.
Additionally, the Board has released the final list of Local Government Coordinators who will be responsible for the welfare of the pilgrims in the holy land.
The appointed Coordinators and their respective Local Governments include Bello Aminat and Martins Olubunmi (Agege); Bankole Rasheed and Nosiru Dawodu (Ajeromi Ifelodun); Mukadas Paramole (Alimosho); Sherifat Adeyanju (Amuwo Odofin); Rasheedat Tijani and Sherifat Oladipupo (Apapa); Ajarat Sanusi-Alaka and Saheed Idris (Badagry/Ojo); Nimotallahi Kosoko (Eti-Osa); and Muyibat Babalola (Epe).
The list continues with Rasheedat Muhammed (Ifako-Ijaiye); Musa Lawal (Ikeja); Khadijat Oluwa (Ikorodu); Zeenat Ibrahim (Kosofe); Bisiriyu Lookman (Lagos Island); Salamat Obabire (Lagos Mainland); Kudirat Kadri (Mushin); Abubakar Aliu and Saidat Lawal (Oshodi-Isolo); Taofeek Dosunmu (Shomolu); Biola Buraimah (Surulere); Haruna Abibat (Government officials); and Fatima Jaji (JAIZ Bank/NIA and others).
