The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that the Facebook account belonging to the State Commissioner of Police, Akeem Yusuf, was hacked.
Earlier reports from various online media platforms had circulated claims made on the hacked account, suggesting that afrobeat singer Seun Kuti’s body had been disposed of in a lagoon after an alleged assault on a police officer.
Hacking and Disavowal:
In response to the circulated claims, the Kogi State Police Command spokesperson, William Aya, released a statement on Monday, clarifying that the Commissioner of Police’s Facebook account was compromised.
The statement explained that Commissioner Yusuf had repeatedly cautioned the public to disregard any messages originating from that account.
Falsehoods and Image Tarnishing:
The Kogi State Police Command denounced the statement circulated on the hacked account, emphasizing that it was fabricated and aimed at tarnishing the image and reputation of the Commissioner.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), William Aya, urged the public to dismiss the statement as the work of mischievous individuals with malicious intent.
