In an upcoming episode of “The Kardashians,” model and reality star Kendall Jenner said that a brain scan revealed she “100% has anxiety.”

Jenner informed her sister Khloe Kardashian in the trailer that the doctor “scans your brain and explains to you where it seems to be firing. You experience anxiousness 100% of the time, he continued. I can see everything in your mind. It’s quite fascinating.”

Given the infidelity controversy involving her ex, Jenner said she wanted Kardashian to have a scan as well.

“I believe you would like it a lot. I really want to know how your brain functions “Jenner said, saying that she’d want to see her brothers’ neural networks.

Jenner has previously been transparent about her anxiousness. She said in a Vogue piece from August that she treats it by sipping tea, reading, or keeping a notebook.

She remarked, “I’ve battled anxiety for years, and it may have good and terrible days. “Whenever I need to unwind, I really try to set out 15 minutes to meditate in order to reduce my stress and prepare myself for a restful night’s sleep.”

Brain scans may be used to identify a number of conditions.

Jenner most likely had a scan performed by the infamous celebrity psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, who has treated celebrities including Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid, Meghan Trainor, as well as several former NFL players and well-known businessmen.

Amen supports SPECT scans, which quantify the amount of blood flowing to various parts of the brain. It begins with receiving a radioactive material through IV.

According to the Mayo Clinic, they are often used for the diagnosis and supervision of brain disorders including Alzheimer’s, stroke, and seizures.

But Amen utilizes them to show patients that their ailments aren’t entirely in their brains and to better comprehend a wide range of diseases, from obesity and performance anxiety to drug usage and ADHD. People regard their issues as medical, not moral, concerns, thus SPECT is crucial to reduce stigma and promote compliance, he previously told Insider.

It is not required to identify anxiety using a brain scan.

According to Dr. Renee Solomon, professional psychologist and proprietor of Forward Recovery, there are other kinds of brain scans that are more often used to determine your susceptibility for anxiety.

According to a large body of research, brain scans may identify anxiety, she told Insider. For instance, she cited studies showing that anxiety may be detected by MRIs and CT scans, both of which can indicate damage to the frontal lobe in worried individuals. More study is required in this area, Solomon said.

However, scans are not required for the diagnosis of anxiety. Instead, when patients satisfy certain criteria outlined in the DSM 5, such as being overly anxious or concerned most days about a range of events, therapists may formally diagnose the patient.

Solomon advises obtaining “a thorough assessment” from a psychiatrist or psychologist, which may or may not include a brain scan. You probably won’t be shocked by the findings: People usually are aware of their anxiety, she added.
