Keabetswe Ramotsei and Mzwekhaya Nkonxeni Join Venda FC from Mamelodi Sundowns in Major Pre-Season Transfer

Venda FC, a team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, has made a splash by signing two key players from Mamelodi Sundowns. Keabetswe Ramotsei and Mzwekhaya Nkonxeni are the latest additions to the Vhembe-based team as they gear up for the new season.

Both Ramotsei and Nkonxeni are coming from Sundowns’ Diski Challenge squad.

Last season, they played a crucial role in helping Sundowns secure the runner-up position in the Diski Challenge, with Stellenbosch FC ultimately taking the top spot.

Venda FC wrapped up the previous season in 12th place in the South African football second tier, accumulating 35 points from 30 matches. The signing of Nkonxeni and Ramotsei is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.

The team is under the guidance of Duncan Lechesa, who played a pivotal role in keeping the club from relegation.

Their goal for this season is to push for promotion to the Betway Premiership.

From Local Streets to the PSL

Ramotsei’s journey began on the streets of Meadowlands in Soweto, where he first developed his passion for football. His talent was recognized when he joined Sundowns at the start of the 2023/24 season.

His impressive performances in the Diski Challenge earned him a spot on the first team, and he made his debut in the Carling Knockout Cup against TS Galaxy. Despite coming on as a substitute and playing 46 minutes, Sundowns lost the match 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in extra time.

Nkonxeni’s Contribution

Nkonxeni also made a significant impact during his time with Sundowns, and his partnership with Ramotsei was a formidable one in the Diski Challenge.

Their combined efforts were instrumental in creating challenges for opposing teams.
