Meanwhile, Penny Mordaunt, who held the jewelled Sword of State as lord president of the privy council, wore a teal dress with a matching cape and a Jane Taylor headband embroidered with a gold fern pattern.

Viewers compared Mordaunt’s outfit to Star Trek and the Handmaid’s Tale, with one person joking that she should give Chewbacca his medal.
