Arrest of Notorious Bandit in Kano State

In a significant development, the Kano State Police Command has successfully arrested Isah Lawal, a 33-year-old notorious bandit known for his involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.

The arrest was made during an intelligence-led clearance operation conducted by a team of police operatives led by SP Aliyu Mohammed Auwal.

Operation Details and Recovered Livestock

The operation, executed on January 4, 2024, targeted the Karaye local government area of Kano State along the Kaduna-Kano border.

The outcome of the operation was the recovery of 55 cows and six sheep. Isah Lawal, a resident of Kaya Village in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State, was apprehended as part of the police efforts to combat criminal activities.

Reasons for Relocation and Gang Conflicts

During the investigation, Lawal confessed to fleeing the Maidaro bandits’ camp in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State due to internal conflicts within the gang.

His relocation to Kano State, particularly the Gwarzo-Karaye Forest, was prompted by the death of one of the gang leaders, Bashir of Malumfashi, Katsina State, during clashes with a rival bandit group.

Police Confirmation and Commendation

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), ASP Abdullahi Hussaini, confirmed Lawal’s arrest in a press statement.

He commended the efforts of the police operatives involved in the operation. Furthermore, Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel has directed the deployment of additional manpower and equipment to secure all Kano State borders.

Police Commissioner’s Statements and Call for Vigilance

CP Gumel expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration received from the people of Kano State.

He urged continued vigilance among the public, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The arrest of Isah Lawal marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and enhance security in the region.
