Kaizer Chiefs face a difficult challenge in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round after losing 1-0 to Zambia’s Red Arrows in Ndola.

The Soweto club suffered the defeat at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with Red Arrows captain Alassane Diarra scoring the only goal of the match to give the Zambian side an advantage ahead of the return fixture.

The result leaves Amakhosi needing to overturn the deficit at home to keep their hopes of reaching the competition’s group stage alive.

Diarra’s 77th-Minute Goal Decides the Match

The contest remained closely fought for much of the game before Diarra found the breakthrough in the 77th minute.

His late strike proved decisive, leaving Kaizer Chiefs unable to find an equaliser despite their efforts to get back into the match.

The game was played in scorching conditions, with the visitors ultimately unable to prevent Red Arrows from securing a narrow victory.

Chiefs Prepare for Crucial Durban Encounter

Kaizer Chiefs will have another opportunity to progress when they welcome Red Arrows to Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 23 October.

Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.

The return fixture will determine which team advances from the preliminary round and moves closer to securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

Amakhosi Must Overturn the Deficit

Chiefs will need to produce a stronger result in Durban after failing to score in the first leg.

Red Arrows, meanwhile, will travel to South Africa with a one-goal advantage and the opportunity to secure progression by protecting their lead over the two matches.

For Amakhosi, the task is to respond in front of their home supporters and keep their continental campaign alive.
