Kaizer Chiefs have released an official statement after the club were handed a major victory in their legal battle against the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

As The South African reported on Friday, Amakhosi have reportedly won the case against the Premier Soccer League.

The Soweto giants were charged for failing to honour two league games in December 2021, this is after the squad and staff suffered a big COVID-19 outbreak.

Kaizer Chiefs have since released an official club statement expressing their joy over their triumph.

Justice has been served – Kaizer Chiefs

“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased that justice has been served by the arbitration ruling handed down at SAFA on Friday afternoon by Advocate Nazeer Cassim SC after the Club challenged the League’s decision to charge Amakhosi for being unable to fulfill two fixtures due to a massive Covid-19 outbreak that befell us in December 2021.”

“The decision we took to request the postponement of matches late last year was in the interest of safety for all concerned, our families, football colleagues and all the stakeholders involved in the game.

“And, now that the matches will be played, it is in the interest of football that points should be won or lost through matches played on the field of play as opposed to the boardrooms.

“Kaizer Chiefs want to thank everyone who supported our cause. We are also grateful this ruling will return the value to our sponsors, Amakhosi supporters and the League’s sponsors.

“We truly feel vindicated by the decision and look forward to playing the two outstanding DStv Premiership matches.”

Cardoso ready for Arrows challenge!

“They have young, hungry players who want to prove a point against Kaizer Chiefs.” Amakhosi defender Daniel Cardoso told the club’s official website.

“It has been like that over the years when we have faced them. As they go longer in a game, they get more composed. We cannot allow them to gain confidence.

“We are on a good run which has helped us gain confidence. There is no option for us to drop points.

The guys are aware of the pressure on us, but as a big team like Kaizer Chiefs, we have to deal with it.

“We are positive that we can continue our good run. If we can end off in second spot ahead of the FIFA recess it puts us in a strong position and with games in hand. There will be plenty for us to play for,”
