Sikhakhane believes that Kaizer Chiefs need to face the facts when it comes to Baxter.
He says they need to cut him loose to progress.
Arthur Zwane would be a popular replacement for Baxter.
There has been a groundswell of support for Zwane to be given control of the team following his impressive stints as interim head coach.
Sikhakhane agrees that Zwane would be a good candidate to refresh Kaizer Chiefs.
Sikhakane says that it is sad to see Kaizer Chiefs in their current space, but feels that it isn’t surprising.
“It makes me sad to see Kaizer Chiefs like this, like I said before coach Stuart Baxter was not a solution, I don’t have anything against him but he was not the one this time around and I’m not surprised by the recent form,” Sikhakhane told Soccer Laduma.
“Coach Baxter did well in the past but he has failed this times around, he must step aside, you can see from body language from players and in the technical team there’s no unity anymore and that can mean one thing, no results will come from the team, one must go.”
“I think the solution is for Chiefs to release Baxter and give young blood an opportunity, even Arthur Zwane can be the one.”
Chiefs’ 50 per cent win rate in the league is second only to Sundowns, but they have given up a lot of ground to the reigning champions.
Expectations are high at Kaizer Chiefs and Baxter really needed to produce a title challenge, which now appears unlikely.
