The Speedy forward has often been a thorn in the flesh of many a teams in the DStv Premiership, including Chiefs. Du Preez scored a beautiful goal of the season contender against Amakhosi earlier in the season, and that would’ve been just one action that would’ve made the club sit up and take notice of the player.
After a couple of seasons of speculation between Chiefs and Du Preez, the latest report from kickoff.com will have Amakhosi supporters jumping for absolute joy. That is because the football publication is stating that this time around the speculation is most likely set to turn into a deal, as Stellenbosch themselves are believed to be keen to finally cash in on the now 24-year-old speed merchant.
The publication also, however, states that Chiefs are still a long way from meeting the asking price that Stellenbosch have put forward, but that negotiations between the two clubs are beginning to look promising for all parties involved.
“KickOff has been informed that negotiations between Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC have been intensifying over the past fortnight over the services of Ashley du Preez. Stellenbosch have reportedly named their asking price with negotiations still underway as Chiefs are only willing to pay three quarters of the asking price. Talks have intensified over the last two weeks as Chiefs look to strengthen their squad for next season.”
Chiefs seem to be moving swiftly and ahead of time in the transfer market, having been thought to be closing in on signing Chippa United striker Bievenu Eva Nga. The signing of du Preez would make sense, with the club set to lose possibly three forwards at the end of the current campaign.
