Mbule’s relationship with SuperSport United has been strained since the start of the year when the club denied him a move to a club of his choice.

At the time, Matsatsantsa had just sold Teboho Mokoena to Mamelodi Sundowns, and while the same club tabled an offer for Mbule, the move didn’t happen.

Kaizer Chiefs also showed interest in Mbule, but according to Makaab, the Soweto giants had only inquired without tabling an offer for the midfielder.

SuperSport United CEO, at the time, publicly defended the decision to hold on to Mbule, saying the 23-year-old had not been pulling his weight in training.

Now, in an interview with iDiski Times, Makaab said he can’t see Mbule renewing his contract with SuperSport United, saying this isn’t because of how the club is treating his client.

Makaab hinted that both Mbule and the SuperSport United management do not see eye-to-eye after the recent developments that led to the player’s suspension.

Makaab expects the separation to be fair on both Mbule and SuperSport United so that no one gets blamed for the failed working relationship.

SuperSport United have until the end of May 2022 to trigger the one-year option they have on Mbule’s current contract.

MBULE SET TO LEAVE SUPERSPORT UNITED FOR FREE

“I can’t see him staying at SuperSport beyond this season. I’m telling you this and it has nothing to do with SuperSport. I’ve had a fantastic relationship with them for almost two decades, even when they were Pretoria City,” said Makaab.

“So, I’m not at all pointing fingers at the club, I’m just saying there comes a time where a club and a player cannot see eye-to-eye, for whatever reason – and there doesn’t seem to be a solution and it’s best for all parties to part ways.

“As long as it’s a fair parting, as long as the pressure isn’t placed on any of the two parties to leave in an unfair manner,” added Makaab.

At the start of 2022, Stuart Baxter refused to talk about Mbule’s possible move to Chiefs, before citing his price tag as the stumbling block for him to move to Naturena.

Baxter’s sentiments were recently echoed by Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr who admitted that while everyone wants Mbule, the final word always rests with SuperSport United.

Now, with Mbule set to become a free agent in July, Chiefs may jump at the opportunity to lure him to Naturena without worrying about paying a fee for his services.
