Last week, Amakhosi fans took to social media to complain that the ticket prices had gone from the usual R40 to R70 for their game against SuperSport United on Saturday.
Kick-off at the FNB Stadium is at 19:30.
In a statement released on Monday, Chiefs said the increase in ticket prices was motivated by ‘many developments and increases in overhead costs’.
Chiefs will, for the first time, get to play in front of their home fans, and those supporters were expecting to attend the match against SuperSport United in numbers.
And that’s because Chiefs could have about 47 000 spectators which is the 50 percent capacity of the iconic FNB Stadium.
KAIZER CHIEFS EXPLAIN INCREASE IN TICKET PRICES
“Whereas ticket prices would previously start from R40-R80 – depending on the category of the game and the logistical requirements,” said the club.
“Now, as a result of many developments and increases in overhead costs, home game tickets will start at R70 for games at FNB Stadium.”
Furthermore, Chiefs announced that ticket vendor Ticket Master will be in charge of ticketing for all the matches hosted at FNB Stadium.
However, physical tickets will still be available through Computicket outlets and at Shoprite and Checkers.
