Kaizer Chiefs Coach Nasreddine Nabi Expresses Frustration Over Referee Decisions After Intense 2-2 Comeback Against Magesi FC at SuperSport

Kaizer Chiefs’ coach, Nasreddine Nabi, did not hold back after a dramatic 2-2 comeback draw against Magesi FC, voicing strong concerns over the refereeing decisions that played out on the field.

Trailing 2-0, the Chiefs managed to claw back thanks to Mduduzi Shabalala’s quick brace, salvaging a point for the team, but Nabi believes the officiating let them down.

Controversial Calls Stir Up VAR Debate

One of the main points of contention was a missed penalty call.

Chiefs’ Wandile Duba was seemingly brought down in the box, but the referees decided against awarding a spot-kick.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, Nabi didn’t hold back his disappointment:

“We strongly believe it was a penalty on Duba. Everyone has seen the images.”

Adding to his frustration, Nabi pointed out that Magesi’s second goal stemmed from what he felt should have been a free kick in Chiefs’ favor.

Nabi pressed for the introduction of VAR, stating that it’s time for the league to consider using the technology to support referees.

Focus Shifts to Missed Opportunities

Aside from the officiating, Nabi also acknowledged his team’s struggles in front of goal.

With only seven points from five games, the Chiefs now trail league leaders Pirates by 11 points.

“Our issues are obvious. Every game we have the most possession, and we just need to convert that into scoring goals,” Nabi shared, reflecting on the missed opportunities that have plagued the team.

“It’s disappointing because today we lost three points.”

Excitement Builds for Carling Knockout Clash

Next up for Chiefs is a high-stakes quarter-final match against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout.

Scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at FNB Stadium, this showdown promises to be a thrilling contest.

Sundowns have had the upper hand recently, with an unbeaten streak against Chiefs that stretches back to April 2021, when Chiefs last celebrated a victory over their rivals.

With both teams eager to advance, fans are in for an electrifying weekend of football.
