In the Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD), officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Operations detained a 44-year-old male suspect for fraud and possession of a possible stolen vehicle.

A JMPD Inspector stopped a gold Toyota Camry on June 22, 2022, while conducting a stop and search along Pritchard Street between Kruis and Von Brandis Street.

The Inspector requested assistance. When officers arrived, they examined the car and discovered they thought the license disc was fake.

Using the e-Natis system, more enquiries were made, and it was found that the vehicle’s license disc had expired in June 2017, as opposed to the license disc that was supposed to expire at the end of June 2022.

The car was impounded and turned over to the SAPS Aeroton pound for additional investigation.

The suspect was taken into custody by the SAPS at Johannesburg Central, and he is scheduled to appear in court this week.

Released by the Metropolitan of Johannesburg.
