Jaxson Dart Emerges as Potential Replacement for Aaron Rodgers as Quarterback for the New York Jets Following Rodgers’ Departure

The New York Jets have a huge gap to fill at quarterback following Aaron Rodgers’ departure, and it looks like Ole Miss star Jaxson Dart might be in line to take over.

With Rodgers officially leaving after two underwhelming years with the team, the Jets now have to figure out their next move.

The Jets Need a New QB After Rodgers’ Exit

Rodgers’ exit leaves a significant void for the Jets, who are now under the leadership of new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

This major change has the team looking toward the future, and they are reportedly considering Dart as a possible option to fill the spot.

Jaxson Dart Catches the Jets’ Eye

As the NFL draft approaches in April, there’s a lot of speculation about who the Jets will target.

According to ESPN, while quarterbacks like Cam Ward from Miami and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado are expected to be top contenders, Dart has caught the attention of Jets executive Rick Spielman.

Spielman, who was recently hired as a senior football advisor, had high praise for Dart during the Senior Bowl.

Speaking as an analyst for CBS, Spielman was clearly impressed with Dart’s natural ability.

“I like Jaxson Dart a lot,” he said. “He’s just getting better and better.

It looks like the position comes natural to him.”

Spielman Praises Dart’s Arm and Leadership

Spielman went on to rave about Dart’s “arm talent” and the “smoothest, quickest release” he saw at the Senior Bowl.

He also noted the 21-year-old’s leadership and intelligence, which left a lasting impression on him.

“I came away impressed,” Spielman said, highlighting Dart’s toughness and strong football IQ.

Jets’ Draft Picks Could Make It Tough to Land Ward or Sanders

With the Jets holding the seventh and 42nd picks in the upcoming NFL draft, it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to land top quarterbacks like Ward or Sanders, who are expected to be taken early.

Spielman mentioned that while he isn’t sure if there’s another first-round quarterback after those two, Dart might just surprise everyone.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Dart ends up in the first round,” Spielman said, referencing how other quarterbacks, like Bo Nix, saw a rise in their draft stock after standout performances.

Could Dart Be the Future of the Jets?

With the NFL draft fast approaching, the Jets are weighing their options, and Dart could be a big part of their plans moving forward.

Whether or not he’ll be the answer to the quarterback question remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the Jets are keeping a close eye on the talented 21-year-old.
