In recent weeks, veteran actors such as Iya Gbonkan, Lalude, Pariolodo, and Alapinni publicly sought help from Nigerians due to their worsening financial situations.

The acclaimed actress lamented the negative impact their pleas for help were having on the reputation of the Yoruba movie industry.
She observed that many of her colleagues failed to plan for their future, instead squandering their earnings on short-lived pleasures.

Jaiye Kuti’s plea was for those who feel entitled to help because others are receiving it to reconsider their approach.
She recounted advising two of the veterans against publicly begging for assistance, urging them to refrain from doing so to ensure that they would not be left without help when they truly needed it.
She suggested that only those who are genuinely sick should seek help, while those who are financially stable should refrain from public begging.
Yomi Fabiyi’s Criticism of Jaiye Kuti
Actor Yomi Fabiyi criticized Jaiye Kuti for her remarks on veteran actors.
Taking to his Instagram page, he voiced his disagreement, asserting that if anyone needs help and chooses to make it public, it should not concern Jaiye Kuti.
Yomi suggested that if Jaiye Kuti cannot assist financially struggling or ailing actors, she should allow them the freedom to seek help from others.
He also mentioned the challenges faced by new millennium actors in terms of piracy and exploitation by capitalists.
