Local media said that carnival management workers and fairground bouncers fled the site after the impact, and on September 4, police opened an investigation into what caused the accident in Phase-8 of the Mohali area.

Spectators can be heard screaming close to the ride as they watch their loved ones plummet without stopping.

Up to sixteen individuals, including children, have been hurt in the collision, with five sent to a nearby hospital.

At least 15 people were injured after a high-rise amusement ride toppled over 50 feet at a fair in the northern Indian state of Punjab.

Harsimran Singh Bal, deputy superintendent of police, told the Indian Express, “A carnival was being organized, and an eyewitness told us that the swing had fallen due to a technological malfunction.”

Three males and two women were hospitalised at the Phase-6 Civil Hospital for head and neck injuries after the incident.

The now-closed Mohali Trade Fair was scheduled to continue till September 11 of this year.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar stated that officials are investigating whether the carnival’s organizers received permission to hold it.

He stated that the vehicle was owned by Mukesh Sharma of Jaipur.

Operators frequently relocate their attractions from town to town, resulting in the proliferation of small fairs around the region.

Sunny Singh, one of the festival’s organizers, told the Hindustan Times that they have conducted the ride numerous times in the past, but “this has never happened before.”

He stated that he plans to assist the police.
