Igbinedion Varsity Secures 500m CBN Facility to Resuscitate Oil Palm Plantation

The Igbinedion University, Okada, has secured N500 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to revitalise its existing oil palm plantation.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Lawrence Ezemonye, disclosed this at the 19th convocation ceremony of the institution, held at weekend in Okada, Edo State.

Ezemonye said the project was part of the strategic plan of the university, adding that it would advance agricultural research and knowledge acquisition within the university and the Okada community at large
“The project also includes the procurement and installation of a semi-industrial mill.

“Besides producing palm oil and other allied products, the project is expected to enhance teaching and research in Agriculture, leveraging on the largely agrarian Okada community,” he said.
