House of Representatives Leadership Visits First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Pledges Support for Tinubu Administration

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. The leaders of the House of Representatives, Speaker Dr Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, paid a visit to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, to express their appreciation for her support.

In a statement released by Abbas’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, it was emphasized that the overwhelming mandate given to Abbas by House members would drive him to work collaboratively with all members for the betterment of Nigerians.

Full Support for the Tinubu Administration

During the visit, Speaker Abbas stated that the 10th House of Representatives would fully support the Tinubu administration.

He highlighted the unique arrangement where key executive positions, such as the President, Vice-President, and First Lady, are held by former members of the National Assembly, which he believed would facilitate a stronger relationship between the parliament and the executive.

Abbas expressed his commitment to ensuring the success of the government and serving all Nigerians, while also acknowledging Senator Tinubu’s request to promote greater inclusion of women.

Revisiting Gender-Based Bills and Cooperation among Political Parties

Speaker Abbas pledged to revisit gender-based bills that had passed in the 9th Assembly but had not been enacted into law.

The First Lady congratulated the Speaker and Deputy Speaker on their victory and expressed optimism that with their leadership and the membership of the 10th Assembly, Nigeria would experience greatness once again.

Tinubu called for political parties to work together for the betterment of Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.

Appreciation for the First Family’s Support

Deputy Speaker Kalu thanked the First Lady for her inspiration and encouragement throughout the House leadership contest.

He assured the first family of their readiness to work with the Executive for the growth and development of Nigeria.

Usman Kumo, Chairman of the Joint Task – 10th Assembly, who led the Abbas/Kalu campaign, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her role in the emergence of the two presiding officers.

He acknowledged her unique position and contribution to the nation’s progress.
