HOS Inaugurates The Joint Public Service Negotiating Council Of Anambra State

The Anambra state Head of Service, Barr. Harry udu has inaugurated the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC) Of Anambra State.

The inaugural meeting which was held on Dec., 22 at the Committee Hall of the office of the Head of Service, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka marked the rebirth of the all important but once defunct council.

Barr. Udu while inaugurating the council of 32 members committee expresssed his delight that once again the institution which always ensured cordial and amicable interactions and relationship between workers and government has been brought back alive.

The civil service boss reminded the members of the council, the need for preemptive and proactive interventions on issues concerning the civil servants and the government to avoid agitation and unnecessary tensions.

Udu praised the initiative and was thankful that yet another structure for easy management of the civil service matters has been inaugurated even when it is happening in the twilight of his service.

He urged the 16 members of the official side and the other 16 members of the trade union side to work in harmony to ensure that the council becomes a rock solid structure bearing in mind that the both sides must work hand in gloves for the common advancement of good governance within the service.

The HOS then assured the group of his support and promised them of continued support with his successor. He also advised the members to remain strong and guided by the laws of the organization as they discharge their duties.

Udu, drew their attention to the reason why their membership was drawn from accross the various strata of senior officers of government for the purpose of balance, transparency, fairness and good judgement.

He then congratulated the elected members of the council and pronounced the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council Of Anambra State into existence.

The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Joint Public Service Negotiating Council Of Anambra State and the permanent Secretary Establishment, Pensions and Management Services (EPMS), office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Carol Njaka in her speech pointed to the need for every member and every action of the group to remain guided by the rules and regulations of the council.

She advised members of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council Of Anambra State to remain truly focused and committed to achieving unison of purpose among the trade union side and the official side so as to foster speedy development in the civil service.

Also, during her inaugural speech the co-chairman of the Trade Union side of the council, Mrs. Edith Onwuka assured the civil servants of effective representation through constructive dialogue.

She promised that the lowly civil servants could be rest assured of adequate protection as the council is established to solve problems emanating from workers’ dissatisfaction.

Mrs. Edith also praised the government of Anambra state for being truly committed to workers renumeration and welfare noting that there were still rooms for improvement which would be dialogued upon as the council progresses.

In an interview the secretary of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC), Anambra State, Mr. Festus Nwoye expressed his delight with the progress the group had made thus far while assuring of his commitment to the discharge of his duty for the advancement of the vision and purpose of the council.

Mr. Festus praised the transparency within the government of Anambra state and prayed for God’s wisdom upon all the leaders of the council to be able to meet up with the expectations of the group in line with the mandate of the council within the Anambra state government.

The secretary assured that the group would work within the purview of it’s bye-laws bearing in mind that it’s a call to good and transparent representation through effective dialogue hinging on fairness, truths and meticulous idealogies for the advancement of the service and it’s workforce.

Also present at the inauguration where some guests and witnesses, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Labour Matters, Comrd. Goddy Ibekwe, the Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrd., Nwafor Humphrey.

Some inaugurated members of the council were, the Director Public Service office (HoS) Mr. Adebayor Ojeyinka, the deputy Director Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Anthony Nweke, Comrd. Eugene Anyakwo and a host of others.
