Detectives are investigating after a homeowner shot and killed an alleged burglar in Greenwood early Saturday morning.

At 2:35 a.m., a 911 caller near the 900 block of North 101st Street reported a disturbance at his neighbor’s house, and heard someone say to call 911.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the backyard of a home. Officers began first aid, and then transferred care to Seattle Fire Department medics, who transported the man to Harborview Medical Center. The man later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Officers at the scene spoke with the homeowner, who said the victim had climbed the fence into his yard. When the homeowner went outside to confront the man and he refused to leave, the homeowner shot him.

Homicide Detectives will interview the homeowner and continue to investigate this shooting.
