‘He cannot rob me’: Handyman claims King Monada still owes him R50k

Thabo Maake told DailySun that King Monada hired him to instal balustrades for the balcony and stairs of his mansion. Maake claimed that he charged the Ska Bhora Moreki hitmaker R81 470, but he was only paid R29 000.

After finishing most of the job in under two weeks, Maake had to travel from Limpopo to Gauteng to get steel and glass balustrades for the house.

“The agreement was that he would pay me before I get to Gauteng. I got to Gauteng, but he only paid me R29 000 which was not the amount we agreed on,” recalled Maake.

“I tried calling him and texting him to let him know I would not return until he gives me the amount we agreed on.”

Maake also told the publication that he was shocked when he saw King Monada’s finished house on Facebook which instantly told him that someone else finished up his job.

“They put their glass on my work, which is wrong. I never said I couldn’t or wouldn’t do it. I always do projects and I don’t disappoint. This is my job. I don’t care if other people finished up the work, I want my money.”

After the musician ignored his messages and phone calls, Maake sent him a letter of demand through his lawyers on Tuesday 8 February.

“He isn’t answering my lawyer’s calls. The next step we are taking right now is a summons.”

“We are taking this to court because he cannot rob me like this.”

King Monada invited some of Mzansi’s top celebrities to his housewarming party on Saturday 5 March. The 29-year-old musician rolled out the red carpet and welcomed Skeem Saam stars Clement Maosa and Cornet Mamabolo amongst others to the lavish affair.
