During a drive-by shooting in South Carolina about 11 p.m. Saturday night, a mother of five was killed and seven others were injured.
According to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, around 150 people were attending a backyard party when two cars approached and sprayed the crowd with bullets. Summerton, 60 miles southeast of Columbia, was the scene of the incident.
Audrionna ‘Tutu’ Kind, 32, was shot and killed in the attack, according to her relatives. Her five children, the youngest of whom is only three months old, survive her.
After being taken to Prisma Richland Hospital in Columbia, she succumbed to her injuries, according to WLTX.
The victims were 12 years old, 13 years old, 14 years old, 15 years old, 17 years old, and a 36-year-old lady.
Authorities did not clarify whether the shooting was targeted at anyone in particular, but they did claim it was gang-related and linked to past drive-by shootings.
Kind’s cousin, Adrienne, told WMBF: ‘We need justice. We need justice, and we need it because we need our kids to be safe in the community. We shouldn’t have to walk around having to watch our backs.’
Mindy Kind, Audrionna Kind’s mother, told WACH that she was resting inside the house while the party was going on on the lawn.
She claimed she had a dream that her daughter was shot while she was sleeping.
Mindy Kind said she went outside after waking up: ‘As soon as I stepped outside, I heard gunshots.’
‘From the porch fence, I could see a little opening in my porch. Then I could see, I don’t know what color the vehicle was but what I know is that fire was coming from it.’
She added: ‘I saw her laying on the ground. I could not go over there. I could not force myself to go over there where she was laying on that ground.’
Mindy Kind also claimed that her 12-year-old grandson was shot in the leg, with the bullet passing through his thigh and exiting.
Audrionna Kind stated on her Facebook page that she is a Summerton native who graduated from Scott Branch High School in 2007.
‘I’m going to miss everything about her, everything,’ Audrionna’s cousin Alonso Felder wrote on a GoFundMe page put up for her family.
Felder said Audrionna ‘enjoyed partying, having fun, and spending time with family and friends,’ and that she was a ‘gift to all.’
‘It didn’t matter what anyone said about her, she walked around with her head held high,’ he continued. She put a lot of people ahead of herself, making sure they were taken care of before she made sure she was taken care of. She was going to figure out a way to do it.’
