GALLERY: Aftermath of floods in Mariannhill, KZN

Residents at Sunshine in Mariannhill, Durban, say they will not be deterred by the continuing downpour of rain in their search of a missing eight-year-old. Luanda Joko went missing on Monday night after floodwaters destroyed her home. An elderly woman was also killed and countless others were left injured.

More than 390 people have lost their lives in the province so far with more rain expected over the weekend. Thousands more have been displaced after their homes were washed away by torrential downpours.

King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini and mining billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe, together with the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Sihle Zikalala, are visiting the area of Tshelimnyama, west of Durban to assess the extent of damage caused by the recent floods.
