The attack occurred in Kangon Garacce, a community situated in the Dangulbi district of Maru Local Government Area.
The bandits’ invasion on Monday resulted in the loss of numerous lives, with scores of people being killed.
Ambushed During the Rescue Mission
Lawal Dangulbi, a resident of the Dangulbi community, recounted the harrowing events to the media.
He disclosed that the Nigerian Army responded to a distress call regarding the bandit attack on the community.
However, the troops were met with an ambush while en route to assist the villagers.
The bandits strategically positioned themselves both inside and outside the community, thwarting the military’s efforts to rescue the residents.
Tragically, seven soldiers were killed during the ambush.
High Casualties in the Community
As the confrontation unfolded, the bandits carried out a deadly assault on the community.
According to Dangulbi, the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 20 community members.
The situation has left the Dangulbi district devastated and in mourning.
