Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe was escorted out of a Huntington Beach, California, council meeting by police after making a fiery statement comparing supporters of Donald Trump’s MAGA movement to Nazis.
The 43-year-old former Minnesota Vikings player, known for his political activism, caused a stir during the city council’s discussion of a new plaque at the local library.
Kluwe Takes a Stand Against MAGA Phrase
The plaque, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the library, featured the acronym MAGA—standing for Make America Great Again.
Kluwe didn’t hold back when it came to expressing his views about the use of Trump’s slogan, describing it as representing harmful ideologies like “racism, censorship, and book bans.”
Kluwe, who’s been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, went further, saying that MAGA was not just problematic but a “Nazi movement” in disguise, citing its controversial positions on various issues.
He likened the red MAGA hat to the swastika, prompting his heated confrontation with the council.

Kluwe, who retired from the NFL in 2013, explained that his actions were meant to inspire others to stand up for their beliefs.
