Viewers noted his name as a main actor in the telenovela’s credits, and Mzansi Magic confirmed his participation on Twitter this week.
A NEW PRINCIPAL OR THE LATEST VILLAIN IN GOMORA?
Fezile Makhanya, known for his roles in Muvhango, The River, and Isono, has joined the cast of DSTV’s most-watched show, Gomora.
Zolisa Xaluva, who recently left the program for his role as Principal Melusi Dlamini at Gomora High School, is said to have been replaced by the star.
This weekend, Xaluva made news after it was reported that he didn’t get along with the show’s producers.
Viewers are now wondering whether Makhanya would play the new principle at Gomora High School or another villain in the opera.
#TeamGladys hopes the actor will take Melusi’s place and offer her a happily-ever-after, while #TeamThati believes the typecast actor will be cast as a villain.
Every season, Gomora casts new villains who date Katlego Danke’s character (Thati) and are slain at the season’s end.
FEZILE MAKHANYA PREVIOUS ROLES
Makhanya also stars opposite Thando Thabethe and Zandi Nhlapo in Mzansi Magic’s hit drama series Housekeepers.
The fan-favorite actor is also noted for his nasty parts in films such as Isono, The Queen, and The River.
In The River, Makhanya recently played the business partner and love interest of Lindiwe Dikana (Sindi Dlathu), who is married to Zweli Dikana (Hlomla Dandala).
When his character was slain in The River, fans of the award-winning serial were saddened because they wanted Lindiwe and Mnqobi to live.
Makhanya also crushed viewers’ hearts when his character left Muvhango, as they wished for his romance with his baby mama – Gugu to remain longer.
In season four of The Queen, the veteran actor also played a serial killer and rapist.
