…By Henry George for TDPel Media. A tragic incident occurred on Friday, May 19, in Anambra State, resulting in one fatality and injuries after a masquerade allegedly caused a road accident.
The collision took place at the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, specifically at Awkuzu Junction in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state, involving a BUA Cement Truck and a Santa/KC Motorcycle.
Details of the Accident:
According to reports received by Naija News, the accident involved four adult males and the Izaga Masquerade.
The masquerade narrowly escaped harm when the motorcycle carrying him attempted to overtake a truck.
However, the long legs of the masquerade collided with the truck, causing one of the passengers on the motorcycle to fall off and be crushed to death by the truck’s rear tire.
Statement from the Anambra Sector Commander of FRSC:
The Anambra Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, responded to the incident.
He attributed the cause of the crash to a violation of load regulations. The Commander also confirmed that one of the adult males involved in the accident lost his life.
Casualty and Rescue Efforts:
Among the four adult males involved, one was fatally injured, one sustained injuries, and two were unharmed.
The FRSC rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje, Anambra State, promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured victim to Chira Hospital in Akwuzu.
Sadly, one of the adult males was pronounced dead at the hospital, and his body was deposited at the wisdom mortuary.
