During the Rams and 49ers game on Monday night, a fan invaded the field and played about before being caught.

A pink smoke flare was carried onto the field by the spectator, momentarily stopping play. The fan briefly eluded security, but he encountered some opposition as he made his way to the Rams sideline.

Following a short pursuit by defensive end Takk McKinley, linebacker Bobby Wagner rose to tackle the fan, putting an abrupt halt to the fan’s racing.

Video of the event was recorded by stadium patrons.

Peyton Manning applauded Wagner’s effort on ESPN2’s “ManningCast.”

Yes, yes. As they played back the hit, Manning yelled. “That is what we are referring to. veteran Wagner. Get him to the ground, then leave so these people can take control.”

It is never a smart idea to rush onto an NFL field unless you are an actual NFL player, so let this serve as yet another caution to anybody who is even slightly contemplating doing something really idiotic.
