Edo Govt. Disburses N381, 985m MSME Fund to 806 Business Owners in 18 LGAs

…urges Business owners to contact EdoJobs for application points

The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Skills Development Agency (also known as EdoJobs), in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI) and TrustFund MFB have disbursed a total of N381,985,000 of the N2billion fund to qualified businesses across the 18 local government areas in the State.

Managing Director, Edo State Skills Development Agency, Mrs. Ukinebo Dare, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, the state capital, explained that “The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s initiative is designed to improve access to finance and support qualified Micro, Small and Medium scale Enterprises in the State.”

Mrs. Dare added: “The initiative is being implemented by theEdo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs) with the oversight of Edo State MSME Fund committee led by the Chairman, Mr. Peter Obaseki.”

Speaking on the number of business owners that have benefited from the fund, the EdoJobs boss said: “Funds have been successfully disbursed to 806 business owners across the 18 local government areas in the state with 490 in Edo South, 177 in Edo North, and 139 in Edo Central Senatorial Districts.

“The disbursement was done in accordance with gender categories within the three senatorial districts as follows: 280 female-owned businesses and 210 male-owned businesses in Edo South; 122 female-owned businesses and 55 male-owned businesses in Edo North; and 75 female-owned businesses and 64 male-owned businesses in Edo Central.”

She assured business owners in the State that the Obasekiadministration is committed to ensuring that businesses get the needed financial support from the government to thrive, and urged owners of MSMEs in the 18 local government areas who are yet to apply, to reach out to EdoJobs for information about the closest application points in their various locations.
