Earthquake of 6.1 magnitude hits India-Myanmar border region

1-magnitude earthquake hit the India-Myanmar border area on Friday morning, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

According to India’s National Centre for Seismology (NCS), “The epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar located at 22.

77 degrees north latitude and 93.

23 degrees east longitude.

“The depth of the earthquake was 12 km,” it said.

Myanmar’s Meteorology and Hydrology Department said, the earthquake struck the area 8 km northeast of Thantlang town of Chin state, at a depth of 46 km.

India’s NCS said, tremors were felt across India’s northeastern part including the Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam states and even Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal.
