While both sides played some dazzling football at times, ultimately they could only manage one shot apiece on target.

Royal AM remained second in the standings, but well behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 12 points with just four matches to play.

Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s team are safely in second place, five points clear of Cape Town City FC in third, but having played two more matches.

AmaZulu are in seventh place and unbeaten in their last three matches since Benni McCarthy was sacked as Usuthu coach.

Royal AM will next be in action in a home Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 30 April (19:00). Their next league assignment is an away clash against Maritzburg United on Wednesday, 4 May at 17:00.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu have a break until Tuesday, 3 May when they play Swallows in a DStv Premiership clash at 17:00.
