Donald Trump Praises U.S. Forces for Successfully Targeting Senior al-Qaeda Operative in Precision Airstrike Over Syria

In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump praised the U.S. forces for carrying out a successful airstrike in Syria that eliminated a senior al-Qaeda operative.

The operation, which took place on Sunday, was aimed at an individual involved in plotting attacks against America and its allies.

The airstrike targeted a senior finance and logistics official of Hurras al-Din (HaD), a group affiliated with al-Qaeda.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed, was killed while traveling on a highway near the village of Batabo in northwest Syria.

Trump expressed his admiration for the operation, commending U.S. soldiers for their precision and effectiveness.

Trump’s Post on the Strike

Trump shared his thoughts on the successful mission on Monday, writing on Truth Social: “US forces conducted a precision airstrike against a member of al-Qaeda in Syria this weekend.

The terrorist leader was working with al-Qaeda across the region.”

He continued by congratulating General Michael Kurilla, the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), and the military personnel involved in the operation.

“Congratulations to CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Kurilla, and the US warfighters who dealt justice to another jihadi threatening America and our allies,” Trump wrote.

This strike marks the second time in recent weeks that CENTCOM has eliminated a member of Hurras al-Din.

On January 30, another senior operative from the group, Muhammad Salah al-Zabir, was killed in a separate airstrike.

Hurras al-Din’s Background

Hurras al-Din, which was founded in 2018, is a militant group that initially fought alongside Syrian rebels against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

The group was designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2019.

It wasn’t until January of this year that Hurras al-Din confirmed its formal affiliation with al-Qaeda.

The U.S. government has offered financial rewards for information leading to the capture of members of the group.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, the CENTCOM commander, emphasized that the U.S. will continue its efforts to pursue and eliminate terrorist threats in the region.

“We will continue to relentlessly pursue terrorists in order to defend our homeland, and U.S., allied, and partner personnel in the region,” he stated.

A Busy Month for Trump’s Anti-Terrorism Efforts

The airstrike on Sunday is part of a series of successful operations conducted in recent weeks.

Earlier in February, a U.S. airstrike in Somalia took out an ISIS leader responsible for recruiting terrorists for attacks in the West.

This leader, identified as Ahmed Maeleminine, was a senior figure in ISIS, overseeing recruitment, financing, and external operations.

Trump had shared details of the Somali operation in late January, where he posted a video of the strike.

He emphasized the effectiveness of the mission, stating: “These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies.”

He added that the strikes destroyed the terrorists’ caves and killed many militants without harming any civilians.

The airstrike was part of a busy 36 hours for the White House, with officials seeking approval for the strike and monitoring the results in real time.
