The 2025 Club World Cup kicked off in style this weekend, but it wasn’t just the football that got people talking.
Amid the excitement on the pitch, Italian TV presenter Diletta Leotta turned heads from the stands — sharing the spotlight as much as the players did.
A Star Off the Pitch
Diletta Leotta, who’s widely known for her Serie A coverage on DAZN, was among the high-profile attendees at the opening game.
Though the match between Inter Miami and Egypt’s Al-Ahly ended in a goalless draw, the atmosphere was electric, and Leotta captured it all for her nine million Instagram followers.
Not only did she soak in the game, but she also posted a clip of herself interviewing none other than FIFA president Gianni Infantino before kickoff — proving once again why she’s a staple on the international football media circuit.
A Glamorous Football Power Couple
For those unfamiliar with her off-camera life, Diletta is married to former Liverpool and Newcastle goalkeeper Loris Karius.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Sicily last year, with the Tyrrhenian Sea as their backdrop and their daughter Aria by their side.
Karius went with a sleek white tuxedo, while Leotta stunned in a custom Atelier Eme dress featuring the sweet phrase “All I ever wanted” on her veil.
It was a fairytale moment for one of football’s most photogenic couples.
Diletta’s Plea for an Italian Homecoming
Leotta has never been shy about wanting her family closer together — and ideally in Italy.
Last year, she candidly told Italian newspaper Tuttosport that she hoped Karius would consider making the move to Serie A.
“I live in Milan, so being close would be ideal,” she said.
“I always tell him, players who come to Italy fall in love with the lifestyle and never want to leave.”
She even floated some options for clubs he could join, including Monza, and made it clear that the travel between Newcastle and Milan just wasn’t sustainable.
“There are no direct flights,” she joked, “not even through Paris or Amsterdam!”
A Different Path for Karius
Despite Diletta’s hopes, Karius didn’t return to Italy — but he didn’t stay in England either.
After spending time as a free agent, he made a move to Germany’s second-tier side Schalke earlier this year.
His return was brief but impactful, making four league appearances before an injury cut his season short.
Still, Schalke showed faith in the keeper and handed him a two-year contract extension just this week, securing him through to 2027.
