SPORTS: Chelsea coach disappointed as defender Antonio Rudiger is Antonio Rudiger, to leave Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has voiced his disappointment at the news that defender Antonio Rudiger will leave the club when his contract expires this season.

The team had hoped to keep the German defender, but he has decided to go after a five-year stint with the club.

However, his choice could be linked to Chelsea’s inability to attract fresh players as a result of British government penalties against Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

Rudiger is rumored to be interested in joining Real Madrid.

“Toni, the press is all over it.” He wants to quit the club, which is the case. In a private conversation, he informed me of this,” Tuchel stated.

“Myself and the club gave everything we had, but we couldn’t fight any longer due of the actions.”

We would be able to continue fighting even if the sanctions were lifted, but our options are limited. We don’t consider it as a personal attack. It’s entirely up to him.”

He did agree, though, that the German’s departure will be a major loss for his team’s defense, but complimented him for his contributions.

“He is a crucial player who will remain such until the end of the season.” However, it is a disappointment. “We’ll miss him terribly,” Tuchel remarked.

“In the dressing room, he inspires courage.” The kind that everyone fears, but the kind that can play 50-55 games at a high level.

In the last year and a half, he has been a good defender for me. Then we’ll have to come up with another plan.”
