Conor McGregor has firmly denied the accusations of rape brought against him by hairdresser Nikita Hand, labeling her allegations as “full of lies.”
McGregor, speaking in the High Court, maintained that the bruises seen on Hand’s body were not caused by him and rejected claims that he had held her in a chokehold.
He insists that their sexual encounter in December 2018 at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin was consensual and described Hand as “enthusiastic” during the interaction.
The Accusation
Hand, 35, from Dublin, has filed a lawsuit against McGregor and his friend, James Lawrence, accusing both men of raping her after a cocaine- and alcohol-fueled after-party at the hotel.
She claims the assault took place following a night of partying, but McGregor and Lawrence have denied the allegations, asserting that the sexual activity was consensual.
McGregor expressed how frightening the accusation was, saying, “My life is on the line.”
He stated that he was shocked when he first saw the photographs of Hand’s bruises but later claimed that he began to piece things together differently.
He described the sexual experience as “physical, vigorous, athletic, and prolonged,” but insisted that it was not rough in nature.
The Bruising and Defense
When questioned about Hand’s extensive bruising, McGregor stated he was initially surprised by the images but later became less concerned as he recalled their interactions.
He explained that Hand had jumped into the bath in a dramatic fashion when they first arrived at the hotel suite, possibly injuring herself.
McGregor also speculated that the bruising could have occurred at other times between the night of the alleged incident and her hospital visit on December 10.
The court heard that Hand had been drinking heavily and had used cocaine, which McGregor admitted bringing to the event.
He expressed doubt about the severity of her bruising, even challenging the testimony of a paramedic who said she had never seen such severe marks before.
McGregor’s Reactions to the Allegations
McGregor denied ever choking Hand, as she has claimed, and refuted her suggestion that he referenced a past fight where he lost by submission.
He called her version of events a “full-blown lie” and said that no “prideful person” like himself would brag about personal shortcomings.
He was particularly upset when asked if he thought Hand was lying, calling her accusations “almost a fantasy.”
He also commented on the public chatter following the events at the Beacon Hotel, expressing disbelief that such rumors were circulating.
When he learned that Hand had gone to the police with her accusations, McGregor described the experience as “the most scary thing” he had ever encountered, saying his life was now at stake.
The Timeline and Evidence
The court heard McGregor’s version of events leading up to the night of December 8, 2018, when he attended a closing party at District 8 nightclub in Dublin.
Afterward, McGregor went to Krystle nightclub, where he stayed until the early hours.
He later received messages from Hand, and they arranged to meet the following day.
McGregor explained that he didn’t know Hand personally but that they moved in similar social circles.
The two met the following morning, and Hand and a friend jumped into McGregor’s car, joining him and Lawrence on their way to the Beacon Hotel.
McGregor has stated that he wanted to ensure all evidence related to the case was presented, even becoming vocal about his desire for additional evidence, including testimony from a taxi driver.
The cross-examination of McGregor continues as the case unfolds.
